Eligibility Criteria for France Excellence Eiffel scholarship
At Master’s Level, candidates must:
- Be an international student born after March 31, 1996
- Be applying for the first time and from a single educational institution
- Not be currently studying in France
- Not hold any other French government scholarship
- Be pursuing studies in one of the eligible fields: Biology and Health, Ecological Transition, Mathematics and Digital, Science and Engineering, French History/Language/Civilization, Law and Political Sciences, or Economics and Management
At PhD Level, candidates must:
- Be an international PhD student born after March 31, 1990
- Be applying for the first time at the PhD level
- Apply from a single educational institution
- Not hold any other French government scholarship
- Be enrolled or planning to enroll in one of the same eligible disciplinary fields listed above

Scholarship Duration
Master’s Program:
- 12 months for M2 enrollment
- 24 months for M1 enrollment
- 12, 24, or 36 months for an engineering degree, depending on the year of admission
PhD Program:
- 36 months for first-year PhD students newly arriving in France (co-supervision not permitted)
- 18 months for students in their first or second year under co-supervision or co-direction
- 12 months for students in their second or third year under co-supervision or co-direction

For both Master’s and PhD applicants:

- Higher education degrees or certificates of completion
- Motivation letter / professional project (1–2 pages)
- Up to 3 recommendation letters from academic or professional references
- Language proficiency certificate (if the teaching/research language differs from your native language or prior institution’s language)
- University enrollment certificate (if currently studying)
- Documents demonstrating academic excellence: rankings, Dean’s List, prizes, or merit scholarships (optional)
PhD applicants additionally need:
- Overall PhD financing scheme
- Presentation of research project and advancement report (1–5 pages)
- Scientific evaluation by a full professor or research director not affiliated with your expected PhD supervisor
- Cotutelle agreement or co-supervision certificate (for 12- or 18-month scholarships)
