Benefits of Funded Honjo International Scholarship in Japan 2025
- The Honjo International Scholarship provides a monthly stipend to cover all expenses for the duration of your graduate degree in Japan.
- The monthly stipend amounts are as follows:
- ¥230,000 per month for 1-2 year degrees
- ¥210,000 per month for 3-year degrees
- ¥180,000 per month for 4-5 year degrees
Eligibility Criteria for Funded Honjo International Scholarship in Japan 2025
- The applicant must be enrolled or planning to enroll in a graduate school in Japan by September or October 2025.
- In general, students enrolling in professional graduate schools are not eligible, but those with a research plan may apply.
- The enrollment duration must be longer than 12 months.
- PhD program applicants must start the course by age 35.
- Master’s program applicants must start the course by age 30 (no exceptions).
- The applicant must not possess Japanese citizenship.
- The applicant must have a strong desire to serve their home country in their future career.
- The applicant must understand and support international friendship and goodwill, and participate in foundation events and alumni network.
- Both currently enrolled and non-enrolled students (including those currently employed) are eligible to apply if they will be enrolled by September or October 2025.
- Students enrolling in graduate schools in Spring 2025 should apply for the 2025 program (application period: September 1 to October 31, 2025).
- The applicant must be able to hold everyday conversations in Japanese.
- Interviews will be conducted in Japanese (no exceptions).
